IRON HOG BBQ
About us
It all started on Father’s Day in 2013 when my wife bought me a small fire box for my Char-Broil gas grill. I was so excited that I put 2 whole chickens in my grill using the unseasoned smoker box where sadly, they met an untimely demise. Blackened and metallic tasting was not the look or flavor profile I was going for. From that massive failure stemmed a dream to learn the true way of the smoke and to forge my own path creating delicious BBQ.
There was much trial and error in the early years with rubbery chicken and dry brisket. I will be forever thankful to my family and friends who sat thru some chewy meals to provide constructive feedback and help me find my own BBQ style. With each passing smoke I learned more about cuts of meat, seasoning and sauces and that Iron Hog Barbeque wasn’t going to be only Texas, Carolina or Memphis style. I appreciate all the amazing flavors and cooking methods each region has to offer and mix those tried and true methods with my ideas. Over the years, spending countless hours by the smoker, feeding the fire and rockin’ out to some good music, a dream had developed to make this a business someday.
My business journey officially started on 10/16/2021 when I was asked by some friends who had come over for Summer BBQ’s if I would be interested in smoking food for a backyard wedding. Thinking this would be a great opportunity to have strangers try my food and get feedback from strangers to see if this could be a viable business and I said yes. We served 75 people that day, received outstanding feedback and that was the catalyst to making a dream become reality and officially starting Iron Hog Barbeque.
From a humble Char-Broil grill and attached smoker box to now having 2 huge smoker trailers, the sky is the limit! In the past 3 years we have expanded our menu, including delicious sides to complement our smoked meats. We cater all over MA and RI, can be found at local festivals and will happily go wherever the party is to make sure your event is smokin’. No matter how big or small we can handle it all!
